UVM - My Experience as International Educator from 2002 to 2010

As Coordinator for Inter/National Cooperation Networks at Universidad de Viña del Mar, under the direction of Dr. María Luisa Figueroa, Ana María played a key role in building the university’s internationalization strategy.

She launched the International Office’s platform in 2002—covering incoming and outgoing mobility as well as its Spanish as a Foreign Language, Volunteer, and Internship Centers—and forged alliances with universities and study abroad providers worldwide. She promoted a wide range of undergraduate mobility options, including Semester and Year Programs, Short-Term Summer and Winter Programs, Trimester Programs, and Intensive Spanish Programs.

She also contributed to budget management, maintained the study abroad website, developed student and faculty exchange agreements, and coordinated international projects with governmental bodies such as PROCHILE and ARDP.

Among her main achievements, she recruited more than 60 Chilean students between 2006 and 2008 to teach English and participate in the Three-Week Chinese Language and Business Program at Zhejiang Gongshang University, China—a project later selected for presentation at the NAFSA 2008 Poster Session “Internationalizing the Curriculum and Campus.”
